Home Sellers: Required Property Disclosures Have Just Been Updated (March 2015)

Whether you are selling your home with or without an agent, Connecticut General Statutes  mandates that  you  disclose known problems or issues with your home or condominium*


The latest revisions address knowledge of underground oil tanks  (UST's), carbon monoxide detectors (which have been required  to be present in your home  when you sell it as of January 1, 2014) , and pending or prior  litigation, government actions,  and/or liens relating to hazardous substances.


If your home is on the market, these disclosures must be updated. Failure to provide  this disclosure will result in a $500 credit payable to the purchaser  at closing.


*Some properties are exempt from the disclosure law. If you have any questions, please contact your attorney for clarification and advice.
